Let the Museum Come to You …Virtually!


Now, you and your students can connect and interact LIVE with the Museum’s collections and team of experts without ever leaving your campus. Your students will explore science and mathematics with curators, staff and special guests through interactive videoconferencing. Our programs align with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and the National Science Education Standards and are customized to fit your grade level curricular needs. Popular Program Options

  • Eggs Everywhere
    Learn about oviparous animals and their life cycles in a totally immersive program that will have your students observing, predicting and comparing.
  • Adaptation Exploration: Owls
    Examine the form, functions and adaptive characteristics of owls. Your students will investigate owl pellets to learn about owls’ diets.
  • Snails Study
    Using these simple animals, your students will hone observation and questioning skills and you’ll have the start of your own snail colony.
  • Armadillo Round-up
    Round up your students for a fun-filled literacy program to learn all about one of Texas ’ most unusual mammals – the armadillo.
  • All About Matter
    Bubbles, eyedroppers, dry ice and liquid nitrogen are a part of an incredibly interactive program focusing on states and properties of matter.
  • Icy Science
    Looking for a “chilling” experience with one of the oddest substances on the planet? Freeze some water, grab some salt and get involved in explorations that emphasize observation and questioning skills.
  • Geometric Transformations
    Ready for a mind-bending, shape-shifting, totally interactive approach to geometry? We’ll build simple loops that, when cut along lines of symmetry, make surprising shapes.

A kit accompanies the programs listed above and includes materials for interactive experiments for 30 students, a Teacher’s Guide, extension activities and resources.

This series brings experts in their field to your classroom to talk about their specialty and to answer your students’ questions.

  • CSI: The Experience-Forensic Science
    Meet experts in the field, learn about real careers in forensic science, and let your students ask their toughest forensic questions.
  • Astronomy in the News and Sky Watch
    Learn about the latest events in the sky – eclipses, meteorite showers, transits and other stellar activity – from our planetarium experts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register?
Visit connect2texas.net. On their Web site you will find museums around Texas that offer programs. To find our museum, click the Calendar of Programs and Register button. Choose Fort Worth Museum of Science and History from the “Provider” pull down menu. You will find our complete listing of programs and times. Please schedule at least three weeks in advance.

What if the times on our calendar don’t fit
your schedule?
To request a special time for your program, call
817-255-9521 or email distancelearning@fwmsh.org. Our staff will need six weeks’ notice to schedule the time of your choice. Please note: some programs cannot deviate from the printed schedule.

What are the technology requirements?
All Museum programs bridge through Education Service Center Region XI, Fort Worth. We can connect via IP and ISDN. Region XI will arrange a test call with you prior to your program.

What are program fees?
Program costs vary from $75 for a 30-minute program to $140 for a 50-minute program which includes a materials kit.

Is there a discount if I book multiple programs?
Yes, save with a subscription! Book nine programs per school year and receive the next program free of charge.

What is the maximum group size?
Programs have been created for individual classroom interaction. Program maximum is 30 students per session.
