RETAIL/MERCHANDISING INTERNSHIP
Internship (unpaid)
The Retail intern will be exposed to all of the functions of a retail environment including operations, buying, profit and loss, and strategic planning. The position should coincide with a goal of achieving school credit. Major projects may include: research on Museum Store Best Practices, research on potential off site retail opportunities, research planning and execution of an online storefront and social media promotions, special event planning, product designations, and sku rationalization.
Basic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Assist Retail Team
Work closely with all departments as necessary
Research and prepare reports on trends in the marketplace
Research and prepare reports on off-site opportunities and museum store best practices
Qualifications:
Studying or recent graduate in Retail, Merchandising or Marketing
Commitment to quality
Able to work with a group in fast paced environment
Experience in the computers and Microsoft office products
Excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
Available occasional nights and weekends
Passionate about the importance of museum education in the community
Ability to lift 20 pounds, walk and stand for long periods of time on concrete floors
