The OMNI sound system has 50 speakers, driven by 8 amplifiers that produce over 24,000 watts of sound through 6 channels and a giant sub-bass stack to give the audience that “you are there” feeling.
Part Time Sales Associate Job Summary:
The role of the Part Time Sales Associate is to assist in the operation and maintenance of the Shop Too! sales floor and rotating exhibit retail stores in a way that achieves exemplary customer service and Show Quality Standards. This position represents an important component of the overall guest experience at the museum and many times it our guests’ last contact and thus, potentially a lasting impression.
In a part time position, sales associates are typically scheduled 20 hours per week or less. The part-time positions available at this time are in support of our elevated guest attendance during the summer months and are subject to reevaluation at the end of that time period.
Basic Function and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Facilitate activation, closing, and posting registers. Each associate is directly accountable for the amount of cash, credit, or other forms of payment received in their drawer for that day.
Process customer merchandise transactions using Counterpoint POS (point of sale system), correctly applying any discounts, accepting cash, credit, check or gift cards as method of payment; and package/wrap purchases accordingly.
Issuing gift cards, following correct procedures within Counterpoint and with credit card machines.
Provide exemplary customer service to include; knowledge of merchandise and it’s location on the sales floor. This will require the associate to constantly maintain familiarity with the sales floor as new products come in, sell out, and when the store is rearranged to accommodate both.
Provide answers, assistance and information to guests to include entire museum, planetarium, and Omni Theater.
Tagging new merchandise as it comes in and assisting in its placement on the sales floor.
Cleaning and straightening the store. (This is secondary to providing customer service). However, maintaining the sales floor is essential to our ability in providing customer satisfaction. This will include: dusting shelves and product; returning product to its correct location on the sales floor; and refolding t-shirts
Also responsible for loss prevention and interaction with other departments.
Cross train in other areas as needed
Passion for working with all ages in a retail setting with a friendly but professional demeanor
Possession of sales ability and helpful motivation
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
Ability to learn computer POS system and phone system
Ability to bend and squat and lift up to 25 pounds
Basic math skills
Computer proficient and Internet savvy
Be able to man/monitor the sales floor up to four hours at a time
Effective written and verbal communication skills
