CommunITy Studio Coach

Expectations for coaches for the CommunITy Studios grant:

  • Experience with learning, manipulating, and/or teaching software programs
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with hardware troubleshooting and repair
  • Competence with PC common maintenance
  • Ability to work collaboratively with groups and individuals representing a variety of needs, abilities, and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Experience in web design
  • Experience with the safe use of tools
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in media development (music, video, podcasts, photography)
  • Interest in innovative, creative and specialized programs

Requirements for the coaches for the CommunITy Studios grant:

  • Complete all drug, background, and reference screenings
  • Attend a Leadership class
  • Attend a training session for working with adolescents and young adults
  • Attend professional development opportunities as assigned

Job description for the coaches for the CommunITy Studios grant:

  • Facilitate activities and projects in an after school program with high school students
  • Maintain a safe environment within the studios
  • Provide supervision and direction for program participants
  • Carry out planned projects and events as directed by the Studio and Project Managers
  • Attend and assist with orientation sessions for staff, interns and school staff
  • Attend and assist with trainings, workshops and events
  • Seek out new technology connections to use within the program
  • Maintain effective communication with senior staff, coaches, and participants.
  • Contribute to the recruitment of diverse students for participation in the program
  • Identify professionals for possible recruitment as guest speakers.
  • Travel for dissemination of the program
  • Aid in materials inventories for projects within the grant
  • Assist with website maintenance
  • Assist with maintenance of the participant information database, including applications, records of participation, and evaluation documents.
  • Support participants in the organization and maintenance of project portfolios
  • Become familiar with the goals and scope of the CommunITy Studios grant
  • Support the Studio Manager and Project Manager in fulfilling the goals of the program
