Registrations are now being accepted for the spring Saturday Museum School classes and Camp Museum School. Museum School offers discovery-based science and history classes in creative learning environments along with a distinctive curriculum that is supported by the Museum’s science and history collections. 

The spring’s Saturday program features Parent and Preschooler classes, and classes for children age 3 through grade. In addition to these, Museum School classes now offered on specific Fridays for homeschool children in kindergarten through second grade (see the Homeschool link on this website. Classes focus on natural and physical science, history, anthropology and creativity.

WHY STAY HOME DURING SPRING BREAK? COME TO CAMP MUSEUM SCHOOL!

Each day will bring a different adventure with topics that range from physical and natural science to space science and engineering. At Camp Museum School you will do the following activities . . . and more  

  • Engage in hands-on science investigations

  • Create topic-related art projects

  • Tinker, engineer and construct

  •  Visit Museum exhibits (Titanic exhibit not included)

  • Take a trip to space (in a Planetarium Show)

  • Make new friends (both human and animal)

DATES: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – March 12, 13 and 14, 2013
TIME: 9 am - 3 pm*
AGES: Children in kindergarten and grades 1/2, grouped by grade

(Kindergarten children must have turned age 5 by last September 1, 2012 AND be currently enrolled in kindergarten)
FEE:
$225 for the three-day camp

*After-class care is available from 3-5 pm for an additional fee of $25 for the 3-day camp.

The camp fee includes supplies and admission to Museum exhibits and shows during the camp.  Students bring their own sack lunch and drink each day (plus an extra snack if enrolled in after-class care.)

Maximum enrollment in Camp Museum School is 14 students each in the kindergarten and grade 1/2 classes. A minimum enrollment of 12 children is needed for the camp to be held. Minimum enrollment for after-class care is 3 students. An information packet will be mailed several weeks after registration.

MUSEUM SCHOOL® FOR HOMESCHOOL

Museum School classes are offered on specific Fridays this spring for homeschool children in kindergarten through second grade (ages 5, 6, or 7 by last September 1, 2012.)

Enriched with specimens and artifacts from the Museum’s science and history collections, each informal class will feature creative activities, scientific investigations and other hands-on explorations.

In addition, a special workshop for fourth through eighth graders called “Tech Engineers” will be offered February 22, from 1-3:30 pm. Participants will design projects that combine the use of mini-motors, batteries and wires with creative materials, while gaining skills in soldering and other construction techniques.
